X Engineering Manager

Job Description: 

Our engineering process starts with building good problem statements and hypotheses before jumping into coding. As an Engineering Manager for our team, you will have a big influence on how we plan, prioritize, and execute our product roadmap, while you grow our engineers to excellence.
 

As a startup, our only advantage is the velocity with which we can move, that’s why we try not to over-engineer our systems, so our solutions might be simple today but we always keep an eye on the near future. We have made some mistakes along the way but we learn from them and adjust real fast.

Responsibilities: 

• Mentor and develop the engineering team.
• Plan, prioritize and execute the product roadmap.
• Guide the team to follow best coding practices such as performe great code reviews.
• Drive pair programming sessions with the team.
• Generate technical diagrams to understand the scope of a feature, and split work among the team.
• Ship code into production.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in total
• Hands-on Engineering Manager with a proven track record of at least 5+ years of industry experience.
• 2+ years of experience managing engineers working on early to mid-stage startups.
• Experience with JavaScript. We are looking for managers with excellent coding and management skills.
• Knowledge of NodeJs or NextJS and Typescript.
• Experience shipping code into production, owning your work from definition through customer testing.
• Have a particular domain and lead its architecture to scale with the business.
• Have the ability to write Technical Specs, inspiring others to read and build their own based on yours.
• Ability to build a culture of highly collaborative and high-performance members. Guiding the team to follow best coding practices such as performing great code reviews, driving pair programming sessions, generating technical diagrams to understand the scope of a feature, and splitting work among the team. Leading by example.
• Excellence in communication. There is no such thing as over-communication for our Engineering Managers, we always strive to make things as clear as possible.
• Advanced English.

Labor Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm (flexible based on results)

Modality: Full Time,  Remote, 100% payroll

Salary: $8,500 to $10,500 USD monthly
